About the charities
Having a mother with vascular dementia I understand only too well the many questions you have when someone close to you is diagnosed with dementia. Things like where do you go for help and support? How can you help the person with dementia understand and come to terms with their condition and that is just for starters.
How they can help
Dementia UK help with specialist one-to-one support and expert advice. They do this through their unique Admiral Nurses who work hand in hand with families, helping them cope with the fear, uncertainty and everyday reality of dementia. The Admiral Nurses provide compassionate support and guidance and help families to live more positively with dementia in the present and face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear. Money raised for Dementia UK goes directly to providing practical help and support to people whose lives have been affected by dementia
A small charity that works with local communities across the UK to provide vital respite breaks for individuals, families and groups who support children with additional needs.
Ways they help
For children struggling with mobility issues, they take the magic to them by arranging visits to special needs schools by theatre groups, musicians and specialist entertainers.
They provide experiences that support development. For children with special needs, a day at the zoo or a trip to the seaside with their families can provide both happiness and hope. It also gives them a chance to interact with people outside of their usual environment, helping them to develop important social skills and improve their self esteem.
Now you know about the charities, book the 28th November out in your diary and come along to Principles Hair Design and ideal eyewear for a glass of wine, some retail therapy and to support Dementia UK and Happy Days.
